During early fall, I had a lengthy encounter with a bull moose, known to locals as Washakie. In pursuit of cows, Washakie walked stiff-legged through a thick stand of cottonwoods, emitting a series of grunts as breath steamed from his nostrils. He was quite the sight as he emerged from the forest, with the early morning light making the scene seem almost magical. This majestic fellow certainly knows how to make an entrance after all these years!
